In the show, Grammy Award winner McKeown performed songs from her new, seventh album by the same name; many of the songs were poems set to music that she composed. This was an exceptional evening! Not only are her voice and delivery beautiful but the selection of songs and compositions were gorgeous. An interlude presented a fascinating conversation with McKeown, Kay Redfield Jamison (celebrated author of Touched with Fire), and Paul Holdengräber of the New York Public Library. McKeown is taking the show to Baltimore this Thursday, November 18th, when she’ll perform in Hurd Hall at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Tea is at 5 pm, performance at 5:30 pm. Attended the excellent all-day Peer Pitch at Docs in Progress, where I got helpful feedback on my idea for an innovative TV travel series. A fellow pitcher: Zlata of Zlata’s Diary fame! She is charming and has lived in Dublin (my home during teenage years) for 15 years and works at a film production company there with Anna Rodgers, whose film “If These Walls Could Talk” played at Silverdocs. Anna offered me an invaluable link/access to musicians and filmmakers in Ireland–very exciting. The Peer Pitch led to my finally finishing the proposal for the TV series and showing it to several folks. My doc Lens & Pens got accepted to the Action on Film Intl Film Festival in Pasadena, CA, and has been nominated for Best Political Statement Movie there. Trying to figure out a way to get and spend some time there on the cheap!

Uncategorized
<guid
